April 22nd : Earth Day

It is inevitable. It is undeniable. It is not implausible. It is slowly becoming true. The world is dying. The world needs our help. It is sending a message...

*radio crackles* *beep* Transmission starts... "Listen, little human. I gave everything to you all, yet you all take it for granted. I used up millions of years to produce petroleum, and you human sucked it all up in less than a millennium. I painstakingly prepared the precious ozone layer to support your life, yet you human take it for granted and destroy it with those foul-smelling smoke. Ever since you little human set foot on my surface, you left nothing but craters on my face; you did nothing but shave away my beautiful forests; you helped me nothing but drain away my 'life'. Now you... suffer... conseque....." *radio crackles* *beep* Transmission ends.

Remember the fearsome Tsunami in year 2004? Remember the devestating Hurricane Katrina back in year 2005? Or the deadly H5N1 "avian flu"? The life-threatening SARS? Do you believe that these catastrophes, these disasters, these calamities, whatever you want to call it, are our planet's way to remind us that we have gone too far? Do you believe that these are the consequences we have to face because of what we've done? I believe. For a quick example, take a look at this picture. Nice, calm green field, with clear blue sky. But something is added into it, something alien to our planet Earth. It is the poison we gave to Earth, slowly deteriorating Her health. We are building a path to our own extinction. And we are the remedy for this. April 22nd, the Earth Day. A day to remind us to cherish our planet Earth. This is a picture taken from the documentary An Inconvenient Truth. Yet, it is not the end. We can save our planet, our home.
